Lonnie Wheatley, INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (July 5, 2018) – Tyler Courtney continues the pursuit of the Amsoil USAC National Sprint Car championship aboard the Clauson-Marshall-Newman Racing Priority Aviation No. 7bc Sprint Car with Friday night’s fourth running of the “Bill Gardner Sprintacular” at Putnamville, Indiana’s Lincoln Park Speedway.
“Sunshine” has made a habit of finding the podium at Putnamville, racing to a third-place finish in this June’s Midget Week round of competition at Lincoln Park Speedway and posting a runner-up finish in last year’s Indiana Sprint Week card.
Courtney comes in off a tough-luck night of POWRi Midget action at Illinois’ Macon Speedway on Saturday before Sunday’s go at Lincoln (IL) Speedway was rained out.
After earning a front row starting position, Courtney battled into the lead of the POWRi Midget feature at Macon aboard the Clauson-Marshall Racing Driven2SaveLives/Indiana Donor Network No. 7bc Midget only to be sidelined by mechanical failure just ten laps shy of the checkered flag.
“We were definitely going to win that one, it’s just a matter of finishing races,” Courtney said of what could have been his seventh overall triumph of the year.
Friday night’s Sprintacular at Lincoln Park Speedway sets the stage for a flurry of racing activity to follow that includes a USAC Midget swing through Oklahoma, Kansas, Nebraska and Missouri on July 10-15, USAC’s Indiana Sprintweek on July 20-28 and then the USAC Midget Pennsylvania swing on August 2-5.
2018 Quick Stats: 36 races, 6 wins, 23 top-fives, 26 top-tens.
Up Next: USAC Sprint Cars at Lincoln Park Speedway (Putnamville, IN) on Friday night.
